Joann Jett & The Blackhearts, Panama City 1984

It was a big deal at the time... not many rock stars would go on tour to Panama. I had a chance to hang out with them at the hotel the day before the concert... pretty wild!

I got them to autograph the cover of the album and also got an autographed poster of her... not sure where all that ended up, but it never made it to Houston with the few things I brought.

First big name Chaka Khan with Ask Rufus (her original band for $2 at a very small venue before she hit it big. Also saw Joe Cocker, Mahavishnu Orchestra (pre George Harrison), and Ravi Shankar same venue, same price.

Chicago at the Coliseum downtown. I was in 8th grade. Probably 1973. I remember there was a pretty thick pot smell!🙃

REO Speedwagon and Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen. A lot of folks around me kept trying to get me to smoke some of their funny smelling cigarettes. Smelled like burnt rope.😆😉

This is extremely embarassing, but it was Miami Sound Machine. I was like 10 or 11. My Dad took me.

My kids loved that we took them to concerts. They saw BB King, Los Lonely Boys, Flock of SeaGulls, Duran Duran, Springsteen, the Moody Blues and so many others with us.

We took our kids to U2 a few years ago for their first concert - they were excited at first, but got tired fast. I also took them to The Pixies/Weezer a couple of years ago (I had to lie and tell them it was Maroon 5 to get them to cooperate).

The first non-churchy one I recall was Erasure at Astroworld. Middle school.
