@brightlights : I made grilled chicken last night (yes, GRILLED... as in cooking outside...) DW made our weekly dinner menu over the weekend, before we checked the weather forecast... tonight is beef roast with veggies.

@Weathergirl5 : Did you cook it in a slow cooker? I like starting it in the morning and come to the house smelling like soup

I made Veg beef soup last week . We don't have winter meals & summer meals .We eat Soup & gumbo , Chili , & such all year long . Maybe that's because these are cheap meals that you can make HUGE amounts of & freeze A bunch of it for when you either don't want to cook or can't because you have other things going on . I use to make all different kinds of corn bread & freeze in serving size for our grand kids snacks instead of giving them junk .

Here is my Cheese soup recipe I got in 1973 from a friend . Grate 2 stalks of celery & 3 carrots .Add 1/2 cup of chopped up onion real fine . Saute in 1/2 a stick of oleo . But I use butter instead of the Oleo & then add 1/4 Cup cornstarch & 1/4 teaspoon soda . Add 1 cup cream of mushroom soup & 1 cup cream of chicken soup , & 6 chicken bouillon cubes dissolved in 1 cup water . 5 more cups water, 2 cups milk . Add 1/2 pound Velveeta cheese , cubed . Cook in a NON STICK pot on a LOW temperature for about 30 to 40 minutes . Really good ,

@eighteen : I love roast cooked in a crock pot . It takes my crock pot 10 hrs for about a 5 lb roast . So those that work can time when they start it & have it ready when they get home from work .

Took advantage of the last cold night for a while. Beef burgundy stew (merlot...braised with the beef and stock for hours) with barley! Just onions, carrots, baby bellas, and potatoes for the veggies that simmered later on the stovetop. I'm still sweating! Made waaaaay too much! 😭

@TXNS_fan : No I do t have a slow cooker. I cooked it in a regular pot. I cut and washed all the vegetables the night before to save time. But I agree it would be awesome to come home to a house smelling like soup.

@brightlights : I want it ALL! I bought some red potatoes last week to make potato soup like my mom used to do. They are still in the fridge. It's been a long week.

@ladybeachbum : You keep potatoes in the fridge? Am I doing it wrong? 😂

@brightlights : I put them there after realizing I wouldn't be using them for a while. If I don't I start to smell something bad.
