Cold Weather Dinner

Help me decide for tonight! I have all of the stuff for these homemade soups/stews. What sounds best?

Beef Barley Stew (lotsa veggies)
Potato Leek
Broccoli Cheese
Split Pea and Ham (cornbread on side)
Tomato Basil (trumped up grilled cheese on side)

What say you?

@brightlights :

Nothing can go wrong with steak or beef ribs. We cooked ribs this last Sunday and have some more using Carolina BBQ sauce.

@cbp210 : I have never been a fan of duck. The 2 times I've had it, super gamey! How do you make it?

The ducks in California I caught and ate were pintails and mallards which fed from soy and alfalfa fields making them tasting better compared to the ducks in this area which will have that saltwater taste unless you hunt in Central Texas. I ate redheads and other diver ducks from the Rockport area which just like other wild game soak in vinegar and then we put them in roaster with raisins and bacon on top. My friends swear with pineapple on top but I like the raisins and bacon better.

@Sammee : I made crock pot chili for the first time last week. It turned out surprisingly well. This week is crock pot chicken. I've checked multiple times, my house is not on fire so I call that a win!

So it's unanimous with the fam... split pea and ham! Peas already rinsed, cleaned, and soup started.

Damn. Now I have to make cornbread! 😬
