eighteen : Yikes. Do you know if it was it due to the grid being overloaded, or wind or ice breaking the lines? I found their outage map. They don't have many out now, thank goodness.

eighteen : yep. She said that's how texas having their own power grid got started. I tend to believe her because she's a walking encyclopedia.

@Sammee : the problem is people not wanting to pay for the construction of new gas generation facilities. Texas has been courting for years but won't allow increases to pay for it.

The state government is the "problem" in your scenario.

Population and business increases without enough generation increase to keep up. Thank goodness for solar and wind which has provided a buffer, however when not enough sun and wind, the buffer drops.

@ParksideRes : Have you tracked the times that demand has surpassed, or almost surpassed, supply? I have. It is consistently when solar and wind power generation is compromised.
