Ineligible Foreigners with Commercial Driver's Licenses Killed Over 30 Americans Last Year
Every time I travel on 45 headed to Dallas, I look at each semi with a different perspective. Years ago (back in the 70s), I always thought truck drivers were great drivers. I knew some of them; some were family. Obama is partly to blame, which I didn't know until reading this article.

So that begs the question: Are those drivers disproportionately dangerous compared to drivers in general? If not, then taking them off the road shouldn't have any statistical difference in road safety.

Are those drivers are disproportionately dangerous compared to drivers in general? #msg2197955

Sorry. Think of it like this. Let's say there are blue cars and red cars. If both groups crash at the same rate, then taking blue cars off the road won't improve safety.
@ParksideRes :
Exactly! That's basically what I was trying to point out. The article isn't about safety at all. They're just trying to enrage people that are already angry about illegal immigration. And their argument makes zero logical sense! But, they know their readers will swallow anything so why bother making an effort? The Simpsons taught me that statistics can be used to prove anything. 40% of all people know that!

Bottomline…..if you can't speak English, can't read signs, don't know what the signs mean you shouldn't be driving a big rig on the highway. It may hurt your feelings but if you are here illegally you shouldn't be. That simple, you shouldn't be. Seems you have admitted we already have enough stupid people here legally that shouldn't be driving a big rig but let's not add to the problem cause you are for illegals coming here.
Driving skills are completely unrelated to language proficiency. Signs have shapes and colors, in addition to the words. Things that allow me to drive in Mexico. Driving assist devices translate Nafta introduced Mexican trucks and drivers to US roads. I thought that was a terrible idea and still do, legislation that helped the economy while negatively impacting highway safety. Go after the damn taxi/ride share drivers. Oh and the example they used in the article of a minivan rear ending a semi? I'm pretty sure if you drive under a semi from behind because you failed to notice that big ****** stopped in your travel lane you might share some fault

Video Title: Truck driver makes illegal U-turn, killing 3 on Florida highway
redneckroy : Did you not see this accident on TV? It was all over the news. The driver was trying to do a u-turn on a major highway. You can see the van in the shot before it hit the bed. Video Title: Truck driver makes illegal U-turn, killing 3 on Florida highway #msg2197986
@Atascocita888 :
Yes - we've all seen the video and we've all had semi drivers cut us off. Situational awareness saves lives The national origin of the driver is not directly connected to his driving ability. Probably work on overall truck safety and CDL standards. Btw, I had a CDL for a time. We need truck drivers, I don't hear a lot of unemployed skilled drivers complaining about being replaced by immigrants.

@redneckroy :
There are lots of truckers complaining that the immigrants are erasing the shortage. When there's a driver shortage, the rates for haulage is much higher.
