A traffic stop in the 4600 block of FM 1960 Road East resulted in the arrest of a woman on drug charges, according to Constable Mark Herman's Office. On June 7, 2026, deputies conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Whitney Burns. During the investigation, deputies discovered Burns was allegedly in possession of crystal methamphetamine and amphetamine, both classified as controlled substances. In 1971 President Nixon proclaimed the use of drugs as Public Enemy Number 1.
The Start of the War on Drugs began. Unlike the War on Alcohol which began in 1920 and signed into law by then President Woodrow Wilson this law was revoked 13 years later in 1933. Yes indeed. The stupid prohibition law only lasted 13 years. That is how long it took Americans to realize the The Voker Act did not work. The War on Drugs has been in effect 55 years. Everyone knows that the War on Drugs is and has been a failure yet we carry on with this foolishness. I guess the Americans alive in 1920-1933 must have been a bit smarter than the dumb a--es of today. Shameful.

@augustine4201 : What? Are you saying all drugs should be legalized now? Sure sounds like it.
@Catmae :
Well going back to 1933. Americans chose to legalize alchohol. We have legalized marijuana in some states. Maybe we should start with legalizing marijuana in all states to start with. Portugal legalized all drugs and have saved billions of Euros by closing prisons, laying off judges and laying off police. So we know it works.
But I guess we can continue with the endless, senseless War on Drugs. We are simply not as smart as the Americans in 1933.
