Berkeley Eye Center, a Houston Vision Care leader for 60 years continues to experience growth. We are adding locations and physicians. This growth has us adding support positions on a regular basis.
We are now accepting resumes for the position of Cataract Surgery Counselor at our Kingwood office.
This person will be responsible for introducing and educating our patients on the cataract surgery experience. Responsible for taking our patients through the process of preparing for the surgical day by coordinating scheduling, gathering needed documentation for pre-certification, providing patient education and knowledge of insurance carrier.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Counsel patient regarding proposed surgical procedure at pre-operative visit.
· Explain the procedure to insure the patient has a high comfort level with the procedure and process
· Discuss implant options and self-pay fees including financing options
· Schedule all related post-surgical/treatment appointments
· Obtain pre-certification from insurance carriers for procedure.
· Communicate to patient procedure arrival times and provide pre-operative instructions
· Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· High School Graduate or equivalent
· 3+ years of well-rounded surgical scheduling and patient education experience in the healthcare field (strong preference for vision care background.)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Comfortable understanding of electronic health records and computer systems in general
